Diam Diam (Diamant)

About

Diam Diam (or 'Diamant') is another great Boulder Dash remake. It doesn't have the standard graphics you would expect for a Boulderdash clone, and doesn't need any special computer software to run it, but it features nice and original graphics. And not only the graphics are nice but also the sounds and the music. The whole game has a merry atmosphere, which is intensified by merry background music.

You play with a green hairy character - it looks very funny - and you have to dig through the hay (no sand!), crush the butterflies or other monsters etc., looking for diamonds that have to be collected. You can leave the level through the exit if you have collected enough of them. There are some elements that are specicific for this game, like two types of slime ('amoebas' in other Boulderdash games) and the Evil EYE.The game has a built-in level editor. So you can design your own levels and we get a great list of all your levels on this page!

Diam Diam was designed by Cpt-ouais and has won the second prize in the DarkBASIC Retro Competition. This shows that this game has much quality!

Read the Diamant.txt file (listed in the game directory) to read about the controls in the game. For example, you exit the game by pressing alt + F4.

Levels

It is possible to make your own levels in the level editor and to test them in the level editor by pressing the F5 key. But if you want to play the new levels from the main menu, either by selecting 'Start' (playing levels) or by selecting 'Tut' (tutorial levels), you just have to remove the content of the Tableau\Level (for the playing levels) or Tableau\tut directory (for the tutorial levels) and copy the new levels instead. Unfortunately there's no other way. But don't worry: you can always download the game with the original levels or the extra levels on this website again!

Unfortunately, there are no extra tutorial levels for Diam Diam yet. If you have got new levels, please send them to me and I will put them on this page.

Graphics

It is even possible to have your own graphics in this game! Although I would prefer the standard game graphics (because they are so merry and original), you might like other graphics in the game. The graphics can be found in the directory 'cbo' of the game. You can change all the images inside this directory. To 'install' new graphics, just empty the 'cbo' directory and fill it with the new graphics! Quite simple, isn't it?

Music

Though the standard game music sounds so cheerful, you might not like it and just want to use your own music instead. That's possible. Just replace the *.mod files in the 'zik' directory of the game by your own *.mod files! Download additional music here:

Sounds

In order to have your own sounds in the game, instead of the cool standard game sounds, you have to replace the content of the 'zik' directory of game by your own sounds. Download extra sounds below.
